3rd-7yh July 2012: Sata-ham soi Festival

From the 3rd of july to the 7th, the idyllic centre of Old Town Ikaalinen was filled with musicians and friends of accordion and music every summer. There were people from all over the word, musicians, directors, students around the Festival Park
The accordion is considered as the instrument of the Finnish culture and soul and every year her notes are in the air of Ikaalinen. During the festival there were four categories of competitions, starting with “primus Ikaalinen” projected for entertainment music, opened for musicians born 1976-1996.
The 8th Primus Ikaalinen International Accordion Competition was organized by the Sata-Häme Soi Accordion Festival and town of Ikaalinen under the guidance of the Finnish Accordion Association and the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) on 5h July 2012.
Another cathegory was “the finnish accordion folk musician championship”, dedicated to Traditional Accordion music, such as the polka, mazurka, jenka and waltz, played by musicians of all ages. There were separate competitions for chromatic accordions, as well as for diatonic instruments in different age groups respectively.
Then, the Silver accordion. It was a competition is arranged alongside the Golden Accordion Competition, and is aimed at juniors up to 10 years of ag, won by Kalle Makkonen. Watch his performance on the link below:
