Gli innovativi colori sonori di Sbordoni, che avvincono da un lato per la precisa strutturazione, dall'altro per la più totale libertà dai normali confini della musica, ci conducono a poco a poco in un sentimento di eterea leggerezza.
Questo cd, che il compositore ha dedicato interamente alla fisarmonica, presenta la fisarmonica contemporanea in una prospettiva del tutto nuova. Da Virgo, dove dialogano tra loro due strumenti di sonorità piena ma anche leggera, al quartetto My J, caratterizzato da una scelta di organico interessante e non convenzionale, attraverso alcune composizioni solistiche si arriva fino al pezzo più significativo del cd, a SIRIUS: un concerto per fisarmonica e orchestra che, dimostrando un magistrale artigianato compositivo, mette in risalto l'incredibile brillantezza tecnica e le smaglianti sonorità della fisarmonica.

Ho il piacere di cantare la musica del maestro Sbordoni dal 1986 (Lighea alla RAI di Roma).  E’ un compositore con un vero senso non solo dell'arte ma anche dell'artigianato: sa il mestiere suo.  Prima di affrontare uno strumento nuovo e complesso come la fisarmonica, se ne impadronisce completamente, come ha già fatto in campi così eclettici come il canto gregoriano, la sintesi elettronica e la voce umana.  Il maestro Sbordoni è riuscito a liberare le possibilità variopinte della fisarmonica, strumento del presente, ma anche del futuro.

Il bayan si presta al diverso percorso del pensiero creativo recente di Alessandro Sbordoni che procede dal concreto come complexus, dalla storicità del suono e del gesto strumentale, dalla centralità della dimensione performativa. Il nuovo itinerario non è tuttavia una resa al mito nebuloso e infido della “comunicazione”. Sirius per bayan e orchestra lo dimostra: il medium è il messaggio, e genera la sua architettura.

This CD – entirely devoted to the accordion by the composer himself – introduces the contemporary accordion under a brand new light. Take Virgo, where two instruments of full – yet nimble sound sing to each other; and then the My J quartet, distinguished by an interesting and unconventional lineup choice. After a few solo compositions, we finally get to the most significant track: Sirius, a concert for accordion and orchestra that highlights the incredible technical brightness and the brilliant sonority of the accordion, and ends up proving a masterful composing craft.

Have been having the pleasure of sing Maestro Sbordoni’s music since 1986 (Lighea, at RAI in Rome). As a composer, he has a true sense of the art and the craftsmanship around it. He definitely knows his job. Before undertaking the tasks of such a new and complex instrument, he completely owns it. He did the same in other areas such as the Gregorian Chant, the electronic synthesis, and the human voice.  Maestro Sbordoni has been able to unleash the accordion’s kaleidoscopic possiblities, making it an instrument of the present as well as the future.
