Aníbal Freire is a versatile musician and he boast of many successes especially in the accordion scene.
General diploma of higher studies in Music obtained with full marks under the guidance of Maestro Vitorino Matono, diploma for Accordion Teaching, master with Elizabeth Moser, diploma for organ and accordion music with José Manuel Azkue and many others certifications.
Aníbal Freire is a member of several national and international awards juries. Every year he organizes the International Accordion Week in Portugal, with numerous concerts, masterclasses and international competitions.
He is the founder and President of the Accordion de Portugal Association and the Orquestra Típica e Coral de Alcobaça.
Since the beginning of his brilliant teaching career he also founded his own music school (Serenata, Alcobaça Portugal) and he teaches at the Advanced Accordion Course at the University of Aveiro. Many of his students have won and continue to win among the most important National and International Accordion Competitions.
He regularly gives masterclasses in Portugal and in Europe.
As a musician he won first place in the Accordion National Trophy, the Accordion World Trophy (1972 and 1974), the International Certame (1979).
Aníbal Freire represents the Pigini accordion in Portugal.
