Helmut C Jacobs

Helmut C. Jacobs was born in Bonn in 1957. He started studying accordion at the age of 10 under the direction of the soloist Guido Wagner, winning right away several national and international prizes.
Renown composers have written for him works for solo and chamber music, among them Jürg Baur, Claes Biehl, Herbert Callhoff, David P. Graham, Gorka Hermosa, Christoph, J. Keller, Giselher Klebe and Martin Christoph Redel.
Beside the contemporary accordion music repertoire, Jacobs is engaged in a forgotten accordion repertoire with the instruments concertino and harmonica.
Since 1997 he has been teacher of Roman Philology at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

In 2014 he was host the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China’s most renowned conservatory, where he held a concert, lessons on accordion history, and a master class. In 2016 he honoured Spanish and German music in two major concerts in Madrid: one at the National Library and one at the Conservatorio Superior de Música. He dedicate himself also to numerous publications about the accordion story.
