Italian accordionist, audio enthusiast, and sound artist based in Bruxelles, Luca Piovesan focuses on the possibilities of accordion through collaborative processes with composers and artists, creating sound art that makes connections and listening possibilities explicit through field recording, accordion, pedalboards, electronics, and synths.
He performs in duo with Maarten Stragier (electric guitar), Andrea Mancianti (electric guitar and electronic), Sadie Fields (violin), Farida Amadou (electric bass), and regularly share the stage with Ictus Ensemble.
He teaches accordion at the Conservatorio di Cosenza and is a PhD researcher and Music Technology professor at the Koninklijk Conservatorium of Brussels.
He leads BlowOutStudio, a recording studio focused on contemporary music.
His stakes on this path are concerts (Harvard University, Berklee College of Music, Konzerthaus Wien, Bayreuther Festspiele, Tokyo Opera City Hall, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Theatre National de Marseille), discs, lectures, and the project “accordion4composers”, a free guide for composers on how to write for our wonderful instrument.
