Raphael Brunner was born in Austria in 1993. Admission to the special class for musically gifted students at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory in Feldkirch, where he studied in Goran Kovačević’s accordion class from 2007, encouraged his great passion. He completed his bachelor’s degree in 2015 and his artistic diploma in 2017.
He is a multiple prizewinner and winner of various international competitions; Coupe Mondiale, Coupe Suisse de l’accordeon, Rising Stars of the Berlin Philharmonic, Accordion Star International in the USA, Prima la Musica, Jovenes Interpretes in Colombia. In 2022 he also received the Vorarlberg Culture Prize (contemporary interpretation). In addition, he is regularly invited as a juror at the competitions Prima la Musica Austria, Jugend musiziert in Germany and at the Coupe Mondiale Accordion World Championships. In addition to making music artistically, Raphael Brunner also teaches at the Music School Vaduz (Liechtenstein).
His varied concert activities have already brought the young musician to places such as the Philharmonie Luxembourg, Wiener Musikverein, Berlin Philharmonie, Konzert und Theater St. Gallen, Bregenzer Festspielhaus and Radialsystem V in Berlin. In addition, his musical profession enabled him to tour Europe, Latin America and Asia. To date 3 CDs (No Limits, Timeless & Platano) with works from the classic, modern, folklore, jazz, tango-nuevo and own compositions have been released.
