Born in 2014 as a small composers camp in the village of Palendriai (Lithuania), the Composers+Summer Academy is actually in its 4th year. Situated in the exciting and attractive venue of Raudondvaris Castle, the course provides to increase various ways of creating and exploring modern music for the accordion in the Baltic region and beyond.
The main focus remains to produce new works for accordion, both as a solo instrument and with chamber ensemble. Among the Academy Tutors the renowned Iñaki Alberdi, one of the most prominent and active modern accordion music performers worldwide who inspired and premiered hundreds of new compositions for accordion. Alongside his teaching the course will host also the composers Dr. Rūta Vitkauskaitė and Ben Lunn, both keen advocates of contemporary accordion music.
As usually, there will be concert programmes alongside the educational process, including the World Premiere concert with most of the pieces composed during the C+ Summer Academy.
The Composers+Summer Academy aims to create modern music for the broadest possible audience, technical skills and artistic insights are provided by tutors of international reputation and expertise. We hope the Academy participants will be inspired to continue this work of developing new repertoire for accordion.
